Registration Guidelines

& Code of Conduct

FOR ALL SCISSORTAIL FANDOMS, INC. EVENTS INCLUDING ANTHROEXPO

It is expected that when you receive a badge or participate, you understand and will follow these rules explicitly:

  1. All individuals of all races, creeds, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identification or any other protected class (whether or not by state or federal law) shall be treated with the respect they deserve.  Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. and AnthroExpo will not tolerate any sort of violence, threats of violence, harassment or any unwanted behavior intentional or not, to any protected class of people listed above in any reason public or private.  We retain the right to refuse entry and service to any individual who has taken part in activities targeting these individuals or shows to be a valid threat to the livelihood of any person attending our events for these reasons. 

    HATE HAS NO PLACE IN OUR EVENTS OR OUR SPACES. EVER.

     

  2. Anyone who accepts a membership badge agrees to indemnify and hold harmless AnthroExpo and Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. (Sci-FI) from any claim for personal injuries or other damages or equity arising out of an individual’s activities at AnthroExpo, even if such injury or damage is caused by negligence by or on the part of AnthroExpo or Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. (Sci-FI).
     

  3. Registration badges are the property of Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. (Sci-FI) and AnthroExpo and must be surrendered upon request without exception for any reason deemed proper by security, hotel staff, or the management of the Convention.  The registration badge becomes the property of the person once the convention closing ceremonies or event has formally ended.
     

  4. All attendees of AnthroExpo (except those minors attending with a parent as described in section 6 below) will be required to present a single government-issued photo ID at registration which clearly states their full legal name and date of birth. Examples of valid photo identification include: photo ID issued by DPS or DMV office, driver’s license, military ID, passport, tribal ID, or any other government-issued identification not listed. Examples of IDs that are NOT valid include: school ID, employee ID or any other ID that is either not issued by the government or not a photo ID will full legal name and date of birth. Any person who does not present such photo ID will not be allowed to complete registration or be granted a convention badge of membership.
     

  5. Minors who will be ages 16 and 17 at the time of registration check-in may attend AnthroExpo without a parent if they present government-issued photo ID stating their legal name and birth date and a parental consent form provided HERE signed by their parent or legal guardian and notarized by a public notary. Parents and guardians will be held responsible for damage or problems caused by their minors even if they do not attend with them. No minor of age 16 or 17 will be allowed entry without proper identification and the completed signed Parental Consent form provided above. Any minor who provides a forged permission form or photo ID will be remanded to the custody of the local police.
     

  6. Children who will be age 15 and below at the time of registration check-in are not required to present government-issued photo ID but must register with and be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who has registered and provided ID at all times in any official convention area.
     

  7. Convention attendees must wear their official convention badge at all times while in convention areas and it must be shown upon request to any member of convention staff, security, hotel staff or law enforcement. Your badge will contain a badge name of your choosing (subject to staff approval), as well as a unique number. Altering convention badges in such a manner as to permanently obscure any of these elements renders the badge unusable. If your badge becomes unusable or is lost, replacements will be available at registration, please be prepared to show your ID to prove identity. Any person found using a counterfeit badge, using a badge not belonging to them or making copies of their badge for others will have their membership revoked and will be asked not to return during that year and/or subsequent years.
     

  8. AnthroExpo reserves the right to deny or revoke an attendee's registration status at any time for any reason.
     

  9. Individuals who have been convicted of crimes that label them as a sexual offender or “RSO” in any national or local database are prohibited from registering or attending any sanctioned events by Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. (which includes, but is not limited to AnthroExpo). The board of directors will allow an appeals process for non-violent offenders that can be accessed through emailing info@anthroexpo.com. Filing an appeal does not automatically grant access and is still subject to denial based on a majority vote from the board. Information provided in the appeal is confidential and will not be shared or distributed except to need to know individuals.
     

  10. Individuals who are subject to any type of court mandated protective order (or otherwise known as a restraining order depending on jurisdiction) that has been brought to the attention of executive staff in good faith for the protection and security of any attendee may not attend any Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. sanctioned events that would violate the order. Any court mandated protective order may be presented to executive staff by the original petitioner/plaintiff if they in good faith plan to attend any Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. sanctioned event. If attendance of the same event by the defendant of the order would violate the order, they will be barred from attending as a reasonable safety accommodation of the plaintiff in advance of the event. If the petitioner/plaintiff of the court mandated protective order does not act in good faith or does not plan on attending the event, the request for the above accommodations may be denied at the sole discretion of Sci-FI executive staff.
     

  11. In the event that any AnthroExpo staff or security member deems it necessary to revoke any attendee’s membership, that attendee must surrender their convention badge to said staff or security member and leave AnthroExpo convention spaces immediately. Said attendee will not be entitled to any manner of refund or compensation.
     

  12. All interior areas of the hotel are non-smoking. This includes vaping. The hotel has designated outside areas where smoking and vaping are permitted.
     

  13. Any usage, sale or possession of illegal or non-prescribed controlled substances will constitute cause to revoke the membership of those involved and will be reported to the local authorities.
     

  14. All parties at which alcohol is served or consumed must verify that every person attending the party is 21 years of age or older by checking government-issued photo IDs. Any party found serving alcohol to or allowing consumption of alcohol by anyone under the age of 21 will be shut down immediately and will be subject to dismissal from the convention for the year and/or subsequent years.
     

  15. AnthroExpo accepts no liability for whatever may occur within the confines of private hotel rooms. Incidents that occur in these rooms are the sole responsibility of the individual to whom the room is rented. This includes payment for any and all damage, responsibility for complaints levied against the room and any other issues that may arise. Please note that if a situation should occur that may present a threat to the convention and/or its attendees, AnthroExpo has a responsibility to report it to the proper authorities.
     

  16. No weapons are permitted at AnthroExpo. If you have a fake or peace-bonded weapon to use as part of a costume, it must be approved by AnthroExpo before being shown in public. Also, because of potential damage to property, items including but not limited to silly string, paintball guns, water guns or any similar devices are not allowed within the hotel at any time.
     

  17. Damage caused to the hotel area is at the responsibility of the individual.  You will be charged for any damage caused plus any additional fees passed on to Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. for repairs to damage.  Please be courteous of hotel property.
     

  18. Fandoms of multiple types are being represented at our events.  As such, we ask that you refrain from the following disruptive actions:

    • Public displays of affection more extreme than hugging and back-scratching

    • Excessively loud volumes

    • Failure to wear appropriate attire up to and including shirts, pants/shorts, footwear.

    • Disrespect of hotel staff or damage to hotel property

    • Sleeping

    • Consumption of alcoholic beverages anywhere other than the hotel bar and hotel restaurant

    • Display of any adult-themed subject matter

    • Running, Skateboarding or use of Hoverboards

    • Operating drones or radio-controlled flying devices

    • Selling goods or services outside of the Dealer’s Den, Artist Alley, Art Show or other commerce areas specifically designated by AnthroExpo
       

  19. Dress Code:

    • Any attire worn in the hotel must maintain a PG rating up until 9:00pm. Between the hours of 9:00 pm and 2:00 am, attire must maintain a PG13 rating.

    • The following are not permitted at AnthroExpo:

      • Any attire that gives the appearance of police or military personnel

      • Any attire which allows for the features of a person’s genitalia to be viewed through the fabric

      • Armbands

      • Symbols perceived as hate symbols
         

  20. AnthroExpo has a strict No Harassment policy (physical, verbal and/or sexual). No means NO. If someone tells you to stop, you STOP. If someone will not abide by these rules, contact a member of security or any member of staff.
     

  21. Any attendees engaging in behavior which endangers life or property (such as, but not limited to, pulling fire alarms, creating hazardous situations) will have their membership revoked immediately and may be barred from future events organized by Scissortail Fandoms, Inc.. If warranted, law enforcement may be called.
     

  22. Photography and Video Coverage is allowed, but not in controlled areas such as the Dealers Den, Artists Alley, or any lounges that are for private convention use.
     

  23. AnthroExpo staff members will make every attempt to be fair, lenient and understanding in the case of infractions. However, there are some situations in which our options may become limited based on the severity of the situation. If you feel that you have been treated unfairly by a member of Staff or Security, please inform Convention Operations or the Convention Chair.
     

  24. Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. has a zero tolerance policy for any unwarranted harassment or defamation of our staff, hotel, contracted affiliates, or organizational decisions and will hold individuals accountable through denial of service or registration to Scissortail Fandoms, Inc. sanctioned events.
     

  25. AnthroExpo will not accept ANY refund requests after Pre-Registration has closed.
     

  26. AnthroExpo reserves the right to amend these rules without prior or posted notice.
     

  27. None of these rules supersede or amend any hotel or convention center rules.
